Texas A&M’s student section of MTS/SNAME adopted a mile of beach in Galveston, Texas, through the Texas Land Office’s Adopt-a-Beach Program. On Saturday, September 26th, 2015, a group of members caravanned to Galveston from College Station to participate in the Fall Beach Clean up. Joined with thousands of other volunteers, an average of 500 tons of trash is collected from Texas beaches through this program each year. Information such as the source and type of debris is collected on data cards, and this data has been instrumental in the passage of international treaties and laws aimed at reducing the amount of offshore dumping. After cleaning the beach, the students spent the rest of the day fishing, kayaking, and playing sports on their newly cleaned beach!

Join a Professional Section
and Professional Committees!
Now the Section and Committee Chairs can find YOU!
Sections (chapters) are local communities of engineers, sales people, technicians, educators, and other professionals who are members of MTS. Go to the Section page and look for a section near you to find out about meetings you can attend. (You may have to contact the section chair.) Sections always welcome student members!
Professional Committees are technical interest groups whose members are scattered around the world. The primarily communicate electronically, coming together only at workshops or conferences. It is important to indicate your interest in a committee--or committees--so your contact information appears on the committee roster. That way the chair will keep you in the loop.
