The Marine Technology Society announces the Vembu Subramanian Memorial Scholarship open to MTS Student Members studying in India. Each year, MTS will offer two scholarships to college graduate or college undergraduate students in India enrolled in full-time marine-related programs with a focus in marine technology, marine engineering and/or marine science.
Among the eligibility criteria for an MTS scholarship is the requirement that the applicant must be an MTS member. For membership information, please visit our membership page. Student Membership for full time college students and high school seniors is only $25 per year.
The following guidelines will be used by the review committee to evaluate the application questions.

Submit online a completed application, one (1) recommendation form, and one (1) reference form. Official transcripts are also required. (See below)
ONE recommendation form is required from a teacher, counselor, professor, advisor, co-op or internship supervisor in a marine-related course(s), performed research for or received advice from within the past two years. For high school seniors, the recommendation must be from current teacher in any field, however a science teacher is preferred.
The ONE recommendation form (not written as a letter) must answer one of the questions below and clearly answer it.
ONE reference (character reference) form from someone you know who IS NOT a teacher, counselor, advisor or professor. This form is to highlight the qualities, characteristics, and capabilities of the person applying for the scholarship. Suggestions are a neighbor, family friend or volunteer supervisor/coordinator, NOT a parent. This is NOT a recommendation letter and should not be written as a letter in the boxes provided on this form.
LETTERS of recommendation, reference or volunteer hours/verification WILL NOT be accepted, only completed forms.
We can accept transcripts two ways:
1. A "Certified Electronic Transcript" also known as Official eTranscripts (a secure, certified PDF that is password protected and has been digitally signed and certified) and emailed from the school registrar’s office to firstname.lastname@example.org no later than Wednesday, November 15, 2017 by 11:59 PM GMT.(Greenwich Mean Time)
2. Official sealed transcripts must be postmarked no later than Wednesday, November 15, 2017 and mailed to:

Please send only the most recent one from the school only. Do not send previous years or from multiple schools.
Documents that do not follow the requirements will not be accepted.
