Board Candidate – Nancy Ruzycki
Vice President, Education
Nancy Ruzycki, PhD, is a faculty lecturer and Director of Undergraduate Laboratories in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering within the Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering at the University of Florida.
Ruzycki holds a PhD in Solid State Physics (Tulane University, 2003), an M.S. in Physics (University of Southwestern Louisiana), and a B.S. in Chemistry and Education (University of South Florida). She completed Post-Doctoral Fellowships at the University of Washington and Colorado State University.
She has worked at the University of Florida since 2013 and serves on national committees for the American Society of Engineering Educators and the American Physical Society.
Ruzycki has won awards at the University of Florida including; Anderson Scholars Faculty Honoree (2013, 2014, 2015, 2016), E4 Lecture Award (2016), Faculty Excellence Award (2014, 2015), and Society of Women Engineers (SWE) Outstanding Faculty Support Award (2016).
MTS and Other Association Experience
Ruzycki founded and is the faculty chair of the MTS University of Florida Student Section. She has also served as a MATE ROV judge.
She is also a member of the American Physical Society National Committee on Education and Diversity, faculty guide for the American Vacuum Society, worked on the MTS student member Boy Scout/Girl Scout badge day (Oceanography, Marine Robotics), and is a member of the ASEE pre-collegiate education committee.
