MTS BOARD NOMINATIONS NOW OPEN FOR TREASURER AND VICE PRESIDENT OF BUDGET & FINANCE & VICE PRESIDENT OF SECTION AFFAIRS

"I am pleased to support our society during this exciting era of strong interest in marine technology and the Blue Economy. As a volunteer driven organization the time and talent of our members is the core offering we bring to the global ocean community. Advancing MTS into the next decade of our ocean planet is a compelling opportunity, and I am honored to share in it,” said MTS President-Elect Justin Manley.

Now is an exciting time to get involved and be an active part of MTS. Board nominations are open until June 15 for two positions - Treasurer and Vice President of Budget & Finance.

With initiatives and activities focusing on the Blue Economy, ECOPs, and the Ocean Decade, board engagement and participation provides insight and expertise in these and all areas of ocean technology. 

“Marine technology underpins the growing Blue Economy and the burgeoning New Blue Economy. It is an honor to be part of an organization at the nexus of growth in the global economy while also striving for sustainable use of our one shared ocean,” said Liesl Hotaling, MTS Vice President of Publications & Communications. 

“MTS offers a gateway for developments in marine technology to positively benefit society not only by enhancing the blue economy but also by informing public and private policymaking. I am pleased to be part of this process in collaboration with other members of the Board and the MTS membership as a whole. I look forward to such engagements, especially as we kick off the UN Decade for Ocean Science for Sustainable Development," added Jerry Miller, Vice President of Government & Public Affairs. 

Board participation offers the opportunity to collaborate and work with industry professionals from a myriad of backgrounds and career stages. “I’m so excited to be working with the talented MTS Board and staff team.  As someone who has spent a long career in marine technology, I can clearly see how MTS plays a large role convening industry, academia and government professionals to craft the future of our global ocean and waterways, particularly with the help of young people from from diverse backgrounds now becoming very involved.” Jim Hanlon, Vice President of Research Industry & Technology.

"As the new VP for ECOPs, I have been able to raise issues that MTS can work on to benefit our members at all career stages. I am happy to say that the Board has been receptive, constructive and continuously pushing itself to improve our society," added Alfredo Giron, Vice President of ECOPs.

Josh Kohut, Vice President of Education also cited the importance of working with students and early career professionals. "I am very excited to work with an MTS board and staff that are as passionate about marine technology as I am. MTS serves a critical role in connecting a students and early career professionals to the diverse seascape of marine technology careers. I look forward to working with the MTS community to connect their aspirations to the diverse and rapidly expanding opportunities in the marine technology field," he said.
