MTS/SUT Honor Captain Don Walsh Award Recipients at Oceanology International

On Monday 14th March, the Royal Institution, London hosted Into the abyss: exploring the deepest realms of the world’s oceans with a prestigious panel made up of oceanographer and renowned explorer Captain Don Walsh, undersea explorer Victor Vescovo, and submarine engineer Patrick Lahey, interviewed by physicist and oceanographer Helen Czerski. The three subsea experts recounted their experiences of diving to the deepest points on Earth, and answered the question "how do we explore what lies beneath?". This event prompted excellent conversation and great questions from the audience about deep sea exploration.

The event took place ahead of Victor Vescovo and Patrick Lahey being presented with the MTS/SUT Captain Don Walsh Award for Ocean Exploration at Oceanology International, in recognition of their achievements reaching the bottom of each of the world’s five oceans during the Five Deeps Expedition
