Exciting Times Ahead for MTS

The last few months of the calendar year are always my favorite. The seasons are starting to change; universities are back in session; there is a rich schedule of conferences, convenings, and events; our members get to choose their annual award winners and board members; and there are so many incredible opportunities to visit, talk, and connect across our marine technology community.   

Upcoming Events 

We are gearing up for a few busy months -- OCEANS Halifax, Dynamic Positioning Workshop & Conference, Lakebed 2030, Houston Section BBQ, 32nd Annual Oceaneering/MTS Symposium, Biodiversity TechSurge, Underwater Intervention, and the 21st Annual Submarine Symposium are all on the calendar through November. This lineup of events ranging from 150 to more than 5,000 attendees demonstrates the broad reach, impact, and expertise of our community -- ranging from longstanding community efforts to improve safety & enhance operations across the industry (i.e. dynamic positioning, submarine) to emerging conversations on how best to design solutions to pressing global challenges (i.e. ocean biodiversity).  

These convenings are an important part of the thought leadership we provide for our community and are a direct result of the incredible expertise and effort of our members. Folks from our board and HQ team will be at all these events – please make sure to pull us aside, introduce yourself (or say hello again!) and let us know how MTS can continue to serve your needs. 

Elections 

Each year we ask our members to nominate and vote for the volunteer leadership of our society and that time is now! If you've already voted, thank you -- and please encourage others in your network to vote. If you haven't, do so today (to check it off the list) or before September 5. The four open Board of Director positions will play a significant role in shaping strategy and setting organizational priorities as we continue to grow our community and enhance programming. Annual Meeting 

We invite you to join us on September 9 for our online MTS annual meeting. Last year we transitioned from our traditional in-person engagement at OCEANS to the online format to ensure members from our entire global community could participate. Please join us for an overview of the last year's accomplishments, announcement of award winners and newly elected MTS officers, and a lively discussion on what's to come.
