OCEAN ENTERPRISE ACTION PATHWAY: STANDARDSDate: March 12, 2024 | 11:30 AM - 1:00 PM Location: Oceanology International - Excel London - South Gallery Room 5 Description: During the MTS/GOOS/NOAA Dialogues with Industry series, the topic of standards emerged in all four sessions. We learned that standards play a crucial role in shaping commercial growth, leveling the playing field, and mitigating investment risk. But what do these standards entail, and where can we make the most significant progress? There exists a diverse array of standards, including specifications, codes of practice, methods, and guides. These standards apply to various aspects of information technology, devices, equipment, machines, and infrastructure within the ocean domain. Examples include cables, connectors, interfaces between platforms and sensors, communication protocols, autonomy, and data management.
In this session, we invite you to engage in a dialogue about the types of standards that will be most impactful for your work. Share your challenges in achieving and enforcing standards, and let's identify concrete next steps. This dialogue aims to foster discussions across the Ocean Enterprise and relevant standard bodies, clarifying which standards are essential and how we can collectively advance them.
